FORMAT & RULES
PUTTING CONTEST
Qualifying: Both players on the Member-Member team takes one shot - either making or missing the hole - and then moves on to the next hole where both players try to make it in one. Max score is twelve (12) per team per round. First qualifying attempt is free. Additional qualifying attempts can be purchased at $5 each, 5 attempts for $20, 35 attempts for $100. No limit on the number of qualifying round attempts.
Finals is a 9-hole alternate shot.
SCRAMBLE
On every hole, both members of the team may hit a tee shot. The team then selects the tee shot from which they would like to play. Both members of the team may then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed.
Tee Shots: Each team member’s tee shot must be used at least three (3) times per nine (9) hole round. Penalty for breach of this rule: two (2) strokes for each tee shot not used.
Selected Shot: Each team member may place his ball within one club-length of the selected shot but no nearer the hole. You MAY change cuts -- fairway to rough or rough to fairway. If the shot selected is played from a penalty area or bunker your team member’s ball must be played within one club-length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole, and must remain in the penalty area or bunker.
Putting: Each team member may place his ball within one putter-head length of the original lie but no nearer the hole. Team members may stand behind a player, on an extension of his line of play or line of putt (Scramble only), while the player is making a stroke.
BEST BALL
Both team members play their own ball for nine holes. The lowest net score on each hole is counted. Handicap strokes are taken where they fall.
ALTERNATE SHOT
Teams chose which partner will play odd/even hole tee shots and play alternate shot until the ball is holed.
STROKE PLAY
Both teammates play their own ball. All strokes count with handicaps being subtracted at the end of the round.
OFFICIAL SCORING Official scoring is via the LIVE TOURNEY mobile scoring app. Your ID is listed on your scorecard. Teams should double-check their backup scorecard against their official online scorecard to confirm scores are correct. Players have 15 minutes, after inputting the scores on their last hole, to check their scores on LIVE TOURNEY. Once the 15 minutes have passed, all scores will be locked, and you have effectively signed your scorecard and left the scoring area.
RULES OF PLAY The 2019 USGA changes to the Rules of Golf will be in effect for the tournament. Unless otherwise indicated, USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. In addition to the Local Rules discussed below. All disputes regarding any aspect of tournament play will be reviewed by the tournament committee. All rules decisions by the tournament committee are final.
TEES
All players must continue playing the declared tee throughout the round.
PROCEDURE
If there is any doubt as to procedure during play, play a 2nd ball and follow the procedures of
Rule 20.1c(3). 5)
PREFFERED LIES: During scramble round only, players may lift, clean, and replace their ball within 6 inches of its original location in closely mown areas and the rest of the general area. Once the ball has been placed, it is in play.
For the best ball, alternate shot, and stroke play rounds, the ball must be played as it lies and may not be moved.
OUT OF BOUNDS: All out of bounds boundaries are marked with white stakes.
PENALTY AREAS: As an additional option under if a ball comes to rest in a penalty area, a player may drop a ball in the drop zone (Rule 17.1).
ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS: Flowerbeds and planting areas are considered abnormal ground conditions and players must take relief.
RELIEF FROM MAINTENANCE FENCE 9 / 18: A player may take swing relief from the maintenance fence near the west side of the green on 9 / 18. One club length, no closer to the hole. Players should determine their stance and swing that allows them to not hit the fence, then drop the ball within one club length of that spot.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES Players are allowed to use devices that measure distance and slope only. The use of devices that gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play are not permitted, unless the additional feature that gauges or measures these conditions can be deactivated during competition. A player in breach of this rule will be subject to disqualification under Rule 14-3.
CODE OF CONDUCT Players are expected to (1) know and play by the Rules of Golf, (2) conduct themselves at all times in a sportsmanlike manner, (3) respect the golf course and the rights of other players, (4) fulfill their playing obligations and (5) know and abide by the Pace of Play Policy. If the committee considers that a player is guilty of a serious breach of etiquette, including but not limited to unsportsmanlike conduct (cheating, damaging the golf course, defacing club property, using loud obscene language, throwing clubs, etc.), it may impose a penalty of DISQUALIFICATION and possible suspension from future play in Men's Club tournaments.
TIE BREAKER
In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a sudden death playoff. Players will play #18 net stroke play with both scores counting. Should there remain a tie, players will play #18 again until a winner is determined.
